Baltimore riots, toilet paper man

This image should be seen as the perfect symbol of what these "riots" are all about.

In the background, the burning police van and a private car probably are setting the tone in contrast to this young male who, otherwise, could very well be a normal shopper.

His middle finger having as background the pack of toilet paper is also symbolic.
Just think about it. He had to use a finger to give us his salute. Since his other hand is not available, carrying two large plastic bag, his brain reacted fast: his hand, holding the toilet paper, was functional. So, he goes for it.
He is telling us :"I am poor, this is my right, this is my shit, f*k off".

Interesting how poverty is openly and officially linked to criminality.

The cohorts of hard-working, GENUINE poor people shouldn't accept this insult.

Montreal freaking spring: 3C, feels like -2C - Flurries!!!

It looks like a joke. IT ISN'T!
Yesterday, I was thinking who on earth would willingly move to a place where there is no greenery for about 6 months a year?

FLURRIES!!!

April 15: About success

Yesterday, I talked about success.

How does one define being successful?

It can be as simple as having an expensive car one can drive around and impress the audience.
It can be having a lot of jewelry or attending important events and meeting famous people.

Also, having an important job, managing a company or a large team may be seen as being successful.

Quitting smoking may very well qualify one as being successful!

Deep down, everybody wants to be successful, whether it is about growing tomatoes in the garden or closing a million-dollar deal.

What matters is the path we choose to reach that point.

April 13: 20 C !!!

Finally, the weather got better. After I finished work, I felt like spending some time outside.
It was nice to see some people wearing summer clothes.
Others were still wearing winter coats.

That Guy-Concordia area is so depressing.
The population projects a desolate image.

All those businesses look unkept, dirty.

I bought some Bulgarian feta at this Lebanese or something like that corner store.
It's unbearably narrow. Customers can hardly move.

There was water on the floor in the meat area.
Nobody cared to wipe it.

Montreal is becoming dirtier, uglier. Too many dirty, some of them filthy shops around the city.

Just look at the corner stores and the small pharmacies, family run...

All these are projecting a repulsive image.

Tourists don't visit the Old Port only.

I guess that mayor Denis Coderre doesn't really care about it.

People bring their hygiene standards, which are different in other parts of the world.

De Maisonneuve is a depressing area, with no urban planning at all. It seems that there are no decent architects left.

Look at this abominable cacophony of buildings.

Montreal could win an award in urban planning in the kitsch category.

April 11: The most beautiful dream

Last night, I had the most beautiful dream: everything was green outside.
Trees had large leaves, the grass was vibrant; in a nutshell, it was spring!
In my dream , I was shocked to notice the explosion of that greenery as a day before, there had been nothing.
A dream that is reflecting my mood.
It's been a long winter and 6 months with no green trees is becoming unbearable.
I don't want to go through another winter in this part of the world.
I'd like to spend the next one somewhere where the climate is mild.

April 2: I suddenly feel bored

This long weekend is great. I'll probably try to work on my book.
No car this weekend, so not much to do.

Repairing it will cost quite a lot...

Maybe my lottery ticket is a winning one.

April 1: Mexican Cream Guavas

Tasted them for the first time. Particular perfume and taste; I must say I like both.
I am curious to see if the taste will change after a few days.
